Why aren’t my website changes showing?

If changes you made to a website are not appearing on the live page, the old version may still be stored in a browser, website or server cache. The changes may also not have been published correctly.

1. Confirm that the changes were saved

Return to your website editor or CMS and check that the changes were actually saved or published.

If you are using WordPress, check whether the page or post still has unpublished changes or a pending update.

2. Refresh the page

Open the live webpage and refresh it.

If you are still seeing the old version, try a hard refresh. You can also open the page in a private or incognito browser window to check whether the problem is related to your existing browser session or cache.

3. Clear the website cache

Your website may use caching at several levels, including a WordPress caching plugin, hosting platform or content delivery network (CDN).
Clear or purge the relevant cache and then check the live page again.

Avoid repeatedly clearing caches without first identifying which caching system your website uses.

4. Check whether the correct page is being edited

Make sure you changed the page that visitors are actually viewing.

Check the page URL, navigation links and any duplicated or alternative versions of the content.

5. Check your CDN or hosting cache

If your website uses a CDN or hosting-level caching, an older version may continue to be served until the cache expires or is manually purged.

Check your provider’s documentation for its current cache settings and purge process.
