How do I create a new page in WordPress?

Creating a new page in WordPress is useful for adding content such as an About, Services, Contact or other standalone page. The exact buttons may vary slightly depending on your WordPress version, theme and setup.

1. Open the Pages section

Log in to your WordPress dashboard and go to Pages → Add New Page.

WordPress will open the page editor.

2. Add a page title

Enter a clear title that tells visitors what the page contains.

For example:

  • About Us

  • Our Services

  • Contact Us

  • Frequently Asked Questions

The title can also help visitors understand the page when it appears in your website navigation.

3. Add your content

Use the WordPress editor to add the content required for the page. You can add text, headings, images, links, buttons and other supported blocks.

Organise the content with clear headings and short sections so the page is easy to read.

4. Set the page URL

WordPress normally creates a URL based on the page title. Check the URL/Permalink settings and use a short, descriptive address where appropriate.

For example:

example.com/services/

Avoid unnecessarily long or confusing URLs.

5. Check the page settings

Depending on your WordPress setup, review relevant settings such as the page template, featured image, parent page or other options provided by your theme or plugins.

Only change settings when they serve a clear purpose.

6. Preview and publish

Select Preview to check how the page looks before making it public. Review the layout, links, images and mobile appearance.

When everything is correct, select Publish.

7. Add the page to navigation if needed

Publishing a page does not necessarily mean it will automatically appear in your website’s navigation menu. If visitors need to access it from the menu, add the page to the appropriate navigation structure using your WordPress site’s available menu or navigation settings.
