How do I add a newsletter signup form to my website?

A newsletter signup form allows visitors to provide their email address and subscribe to updates from your business. A proper setup should collect only the information you need and clearly explain what the visitor is signing up for.

1. Choose an email marketing service

Choose a newsletter or email marketing platform that provides signup forms and subscriber management. Check that it supports your website platform and provides the features you need.

2. Create your signup form

Keep the form simple. For most newsletters, an email address is the essential field. You can request a name or other information if it has a genuine purpose.

Use a clear label such as Email address rather than relying only on placeholder text.

3. Explain what visitors are signing up for

Tell visitors what they can expect after subscribing, such as newsletters, updates or other specific communications.

If your privacy or data-protection requirements require consent or additional information, provide the appropriate notice or consent mechanism rather than assuming that submitting an email address covers every requirement.

4. Add the form to your website

Many email marketing services provide an embed code, form block or integration for websites.

If your website builder supports the service, use its built-in integration. Otherwise, add the provider’s form code through an HTML or embed element, following its instructions.

5. Choose a useful location

A newsletter form can be placed on:

  • The homepage

  • Blog or article pages

  • A dedicated newsletter page

  • The website footer

  • Relevant content sections

Avoid placing the form where it interrupts important content or makes navigation difficult.
