How do I connect my website to a CRM?

Connecting your website to a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system can automatically send information such as contact-form enquiries, leads or customer details into one central system.

1. Identify what data you need to send

First, decide which website information should enter your CRM. This might include:

  • Contact-form submissions

  • Newsletter signups

  • Enquiry details

  • Appointment requests

  • Customer names and contact details

Only collect and transfer information that has a clear business purpose.

2. Check your CRM’s integrations

Many CRM platforms provide direct integrations with popular website builders, form tools and other services. Check whether your website platform or existing form system has a supported CRM integration.

If there is no direct integration, you may need an automation service or API connection.

3. Connect the website and CRM

Follow the CRM provider’s integration instructions. Depending on the setup, this may involve:

  • Installing an official plugin or integration

  • Connecting your website form to the CRM

  • Adding an API connection

  • Adding a supplied tracking or integration code

Use the provider’s current documentation because the setup varies between CRM systems.

4. Map the form fields

Make sure each website field is connected to the correct CRM field.

For example:

Website field

CRM field

Name

Contact name

Email address

Email

Phone number

Phone

Message

Enquiry or notes

Avoid sending the same information into multiple fields unless there is a reason to do so.

5. Configure lead handling

If your CRM supports it, decide what should happen when a new website enquiry arrives. You may be able to assign an owner, create a lead, apply a source such as Website, or trigger an internal notification.

Only automate actions that have been properly tested.
