If your contact form accepts submissions but the emails never arrive, the problem may be with the form settings, email delivery or your domain’s email configuration. Check each part of the process before replacing the form.
1. Check the form’s notification settings
Open your form settings and confirm that:
Email notifications are enabled.
The recipient email address is correct.
The notification is triggered after submission.
The form is using the correct notification settings.
Submit a test form after making any changes.
2. Check your spam or junk folder
The email may have been delivered but filtered by your email provider.
Search your spam or junk folder for the form notification and mark legitimate messages appropriately if necessary.
3. Check the form’s delivery logs
If your website platform or form system provides submission or email logs, check them.
These can help determine whether:
The form submission was received.
An email was generated.
Delivery failed.
If the form records submissions but no email is generated, the problem is likely within the notification configuration.
4. Check the sending email address
Do not use the visitor’s email address as the address your website sends from.
Instead, use an email address associated with your own domain where your website or email service supports it.
For example:
From: website@example.com
Reply-to: visitor@example.com
This allows you to reply to the visitor while keeping the sending address under your control.
5. Check your email authentication
If your website sends email using your domain, check that the domain’s SPF, DKIM and DMARC records are correctly configured for the service sending the messages.
Incorrect or missing authentication can contribute to delivery problems.
Your email or hosting provider can provide the records required for its service.
6. Test from different devices
Submit the form from both desktop and mobile.
If submissions work but notifications do not arrive, the problem is likely with email delivery rather than the form’s appearance.
